How to get you Marriage License

Getting Married in New York and New Jersey:

All persons who intend to get married in New York State

must obtain a Marriage License.

Apply for the marriage license in the New Jersey municipality where either party resides. The license is valid throughout New Jersey.

If neither applicant is a New Jersey resident, submit the application in the municipality where the marriage ceremony will be performed. In this case, the license is only valid in the issuing municipality.

Couples can now apply for a Marriage License in person or online at www.nyc.gov/cupid.

In-person Marriage Licenses are issued by appointment only, and couples must arrive on time. Late arrivals may not be admitted.

Once you have your license, wait for 24 hours before the ceremony can take place.
